Take off as fast as you can!" 1st JaVA had twelve Fokker D-XXI fighters and a Fokker C-IX available. Airfield De Kooy only had one runway. Eleven fighters were ready for battle. One by one they took off. The three white mice as emblem on the enginehouse. 'Go for it! - white mice!' was their motto. They flew their patroulles. Saw Bergen and De Vlijt burning. Friendly AAA shot at them... Then they engaged in a dogfight with the faster BF-109's. Still, they were able to give them a stiff resistance. Six German aircraft were shot down, among them the commander.
