1.JaVA is a flightsimulatorgroup flying with IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles.
We are based in the Netherlands and Belgium and named ourselves after one of the Airforce units of the Netherlands, which fought the Germans during the Battle of France.
The full name is: 1e Jachtvliegtuig Afdeeling. This unit was part of the Luchtvaart Afdeeling of the Dutch army and was based at De Kooij.
Using Fokker D.XXI aircraft they engaged the German aircraft attacking the Netherlands. Other units fought the Germans using the Fokker C.V, C.X, G.1 and T.V amongst others.
After the Netherlands capitulated, many pilots escaped to the UK to fight in the Battle of Brittain as pilot for the RAF.
